Decorate Living Rooms With Bamboo Floors

Bamboo floors are becoming popular due to their natural beauty, hardness, resistance to water and fast production time. Decorate your living room with decor that complements your bamboo floors, and in a style that flows with the decor throughout the rest of your house. For example, if your home is decorated in a contemporary theme, the living room would be out of place in a French country style.

Paint the walls in a color that coordinates with your theme or color scheme and your bamboo floor. For example, if the floor is light and you're using a contemporary theme, the walls can be white or a bold color, such as red, lime green or slate. Warm colors can accentuate the natural warmth that the tropical floor exudes.

Place an area rug or small carpet where you plan to put your furniture to create a conversation grouping. Use a rug that doesn't compete with the floor, such as a neutral, solid color or a rug with a design to complement your decor style.

Arrange your furniture on the rug, or just off of it. Use furniture that closely resembles the color of your floors so that the wood furniture, such as sofa or chair legs and a coffee table, don't compete with the tone of the floor. Introduce color through fabric, such as your chairs and sofa.

Hang pictures or artwork on the walls that flow with the rest of the room and draw colors from your furniture. Use frames that match the floor for a cohesive look. For example, use pictures of the ocean, beach or lighthouses in a nautical-themed room. Black-and-white pictures could utilize black or wood frames and work in modern or traditional rooms.

Tie the room together through accessories. Bamboo floor vases and blinds can complement the floors. Houseplants or potted trees can accentuate a tropical vibe. Candles, lights, floral arrangements and pillows should all include colors found elsewhere in the room.
