Remove the clutter by hanging up clothing and emptying the wastebasket. Vacuum, dust and put fresh sheets on the bed before adding any romantic details.
Use a diffuser, and choose a scent that is mellow and soothing. Tie a ribbon around the bottle to match the bedding or walls.
Remove high wattage bulbs from bedside lamps and replace with low, soft lighting.
Play slow, soft music on a long-playing CD. Pick a favorite artist or choose a selection of instrumentals.
Place flower petals over the bed covers. Two or three roses will produce enough petals to cover a large area. Separate the petals from the flower, and place in a plastic bag. Keep refrigerated until it's time to spread over the covers.
Chill a bottle of wine or champagne and set next to the bed. Wipe the wine glasses to remove all the water spots.
Fill a tray with cheeses and bite-size fruits. Avoid crackers or food that leaves crumbs on the bed.
Dip strawberries in a chocolate coating and display on a paper doily. Set a damp cloth nearby to wipe chocolate-covered finger tips.
Set an arrangement of flowers on the dresser. Surround the flowers with two or three candles.
Arrange pillows on the bed for an inviting look. Set large pillows in the back row and decrease the size of the pillows for each successive front row.
Place sexy lingerie on the bed for the lady. A pair of black satin boxers might appeal to the man. One set of lounging pajamas for a couple to share is appropriate also. The lady wears the top, and the gentleman wears the bottom half.
Print a coupon book with suggestions for the evening. Make your mate happy with several coupon choices. Keep the unused coupon book for future romantic encounters.
